About this site

The Unplanned Homeschooler has seen a lot in the 15 years since her twins started preschool. She spent years learning alongside her kids, and is still learning today as she begins homeschooling her youngest through high school. Homeschool is so much more than just picking and choosing our way through curricula. Every child is unique, and figuring out what works and what doesn't is truly an adventure. But if we are lucky, we will have a lot of fun and build special memories as we go!

Brought to you by award-winning writer and homeschooling mom of three, Tavia Fuller Armstrong, this site features relevant articles about homeschooling today, curriculum reviews, links to great resources. More than that, it serves as an honest reflection of Tavia's homeschool journey with her kids and her community. Hopefully you will find inspiration and encouragement from what she shares.

Tavia founded and served as the leader of a large homeschool group in Oklahoma for nearly 12 years, serving hundreds of families during that time. She has since graduated two of her kids, who are both attending college with full scholarships and is beginning to homeschool high school with her youngest.

More than simply a homeschooling mom, Tavia has raised three children who all have been diagnosed with multiple disabilities. She understands the challenges of adapting to to your children's specific needs while working hard to open as many doors as possible for the future.

The Unplanned Homeschooler has published multiple books and other resources and was a regular contributor to Learning Tangent Homeschool Magazine. She has also spoken at various homeschool conventions and events. Like so many others, she shifted and reprioritized over the last couple of years, and is only recently returning to this blog.

Thank you for visiting The Unplanned Homeschooler. We look forward to reading your comments and sharing in this homeschooling journey with you!
